Show off your "stack" to help others improve
I came across a blog a couple of weeks ago (sadly I forgot who the author was) where the author went into a decent amount of detail on their tools/technology stack. This included things like what keyboard they use, their laptop, what kind of programming languages they like, etc. It was very interesting to get a peek into someone else’s workflow. While I didn’t steal anything for myself this time, I can easily foresee a future where I gather better tools/workflow from others who share their stack. So I wrote this post to motivate others to do the same!
The original post just laid the author’s stack using normal headings/photos/text sections which was great. For my own stack though I wanted to make something a little bit more styled, so I put together a little hugo plugin that renders a visual map of your stack from a yaml file. You can see an example of mine at https://alexselimov.com/about.
Funnily enough, while writing this post I found https://xn--gckvb8fzb.com/, which is maybe the most extreme example of this idea. The author of that blog publicly lists a giant catalog of possessions which is very cool but also probably not for everyone. So make sure to list the tools you use, so I can steal them to improve myself!
