Blogs I like

I am an Orthodox Christian, husband, father, and software developer (in that order). My wife and I currently have two lovely children, a son born in 2022 and a daughter born in 2025. I grew up moving around a lot, but I spent a majority of my formative years down in sunny Florida. I have a BA in Mechanical Engineering from University of Central Florida and a PhD in Material’s Science from Georgia Tech. My PhD was in computational metallurgy which unluckily doesn’t offer many well-paying employment opportunities. Luckily though, my real passion was always actually developing the software, so I happily pivoted to a backend engineer role.

My hobbies in the past have included Capoeira, MMA, bouldering, and backpacking. Lately I just try to find time to stay fit and do some side-project work after the kids are asleep.

Current Stack

Code Editing

Full stack tools for editing code

Choc V

32% low profile keyboard with Kaihl Choc Silvers and random amazon keycaps

3-D Printed + Handwired Atreus

Homemade 40% keyboard with Glorious Panda switches and MT3 Dusk keycaps

Nulea M505 Trackball Mouse

Smooth operation and long battery life

Ghostty + Tmux + Neovim + Zenwritten theme

Best stack for efficiently working on code. Monochromatic theme surprisingly helps with focus instead of staring at a rainbow all day.

Programming Languages

Languages I actually enjoy building in, not all the ones I know

Zig

Main language I’m exploring right now for personal projects.

Rust

Previous favorite language before trying zig.

Building Tools

Macbook Pro M1 Max 64GB

Was gifted this, really missing Linux but getting a high powered Linux laptop in 2026 seems unlikely

Onyx Boox Go + Lamy EMR stylus

Not as nice as fountain pen + paper but a lot better for organization/reading. I use it for derivations/notes. Be careful with the Onyx though, it phones home a ton. I use mine offline only

Ender 3 V2

Trusty printer that was cheaper than buying a new keyboard. Hoping for an upgrade soon though.

Fuel

Focus aids, coffee is daily while cigars are every now and then.

Kalita Wave + Fellow Move + TIMEMORE Black Mirror + TIMEMORE Chestnut

Favorite pour-over coffee setup using the Scott Rao recipe

Warped Serie Gran Reserva 1988

Nice for improving focus during chill late night code sessions
